I arrived in Lima just after 5 this morning. After all of the prep time, I am actually here, how strange. The process of leaving was very hard actually and I was missing friends and family on the journey. Then, getting here was so new and fascinating. The drive from the airport showed a city of extremes. After getting to the hostel, I ended up befriending a guy from Canada and we explored the Miraflores district of Peru today.

I was unprepared for summer and the strong rays of the southern hemishpere but because my summer clothes were in my other pack I got by with just burns on my head and neck. There were so many little things that happened today as entering a part of a new culture today as well as adjusting to life on the road. Baing as tired as I am I cannot try to remember them all. I relied on Spanish and had a few conversations with the hostel help staff. I learned that supermarket lines don't move as efficiently in Peru as they do in the US. The food of course is much different.

Also, I was reminded that clothes get dirty quickly travelling, technology does not work the same way in reality than as in practice, and after 1 day it is amazing all of the paper and receipts I have gathered. It is so crazy though that in just one day I have quickly become familiar with the lay of the land and some familiar faces have developed at the hostel.

Glad to see the trip off to a good start man!
My weather app tells me that you are currently 69 degrees warmer than we are over here... just sayin'... I'm not bitter!
